e-Kum Nye, Developing Wholeness and Well-Being

e-Kum Nye Level 9 - Kum Nye for the Mind & Speech Kum Nye

This eKum Nye program is probably our most advanced Kum Nye program to date. It establishes ways for the do-er of Ku, Nye to relax, and as usual in Kum Nye it is the body that relaxes and opens the mind of the Kum Nye-er.

If mind is the foundation of our knowledge, and if knowledge determines the quality of our lives, it is in our best interest to investigate the nature of this mind. To understand mind, it is helpful to look beneath the patterns woven into the mind, and experience more directly the sensing aspect of the mind. This exploration can serve as a kind of Kum Nye for the mind, a way to soften the present patterns of mind and glimpse other possibilities of thinking, perceiving and being.

In this program we will focus entirely on the do-er of Kum Nye, the thinker, the “I” in the midst of all mental activities. Kum Nye for the Mind and Speech Kum Nye aim to relax the internal pressure we may feel to always have to do something about what is happening to us. Kum Nye is not the end but rather the facilitator to awaken mind’s sensory capacities since these inform and determine our lives, our work, relationships and in general our next actions. But the one who is doing Kum Nye needs to relax!

After spending time with body Kum Nye to loosen up the body and create internal space for the feelings stimulated to flow through our inner architecture, we aimed to transform some of the residual experiences (in lessons 1 and 2). In the subsequent lessons we turn to Kum Nye for the Mind and Speech Kum Nye.

Kum Nye for the Mind:

• Relaxes mental activity to generate a peaceful mind; it creates space for the mind to be

• Reveals the sensory potential of authentic capacities of mind, primarily through seeing, hearing, feeling and knowing.

Speech Kum Nye:

• Relaxes the tendency to label, name and interpret experiences: in order to regain the juice of direct experience,

• Reveals the potential of all authentic communicative processes, primarily through seeing, hearing, feeling, and knowing.

This program is unique because it introduces the major teachings of Kum Nye for the Mind and Speech Kum Nye in a systematic way, using Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche’s book Joy of Being.
