  • Kum (Tibetan:sKu) refers to the body. It refers not so much to the physical body, rather to our human embodiment, our embodied, authentic existence. Kum encompasses all aspects of our being.

  • Nye (Tibetan: mNye) means internal massage of life’s energies or the feelings in the body. It refines, recreates, and regenerates all the patterns of living. With Nye, our energy constantly refreshes itself.

  • Yoga refers to integration; with Kum Nye yoga life’s energies become integrated and we experience internal wellness and external wholeness. Practicing the nine levels of Kum Nye yoga refines the inner architecture of our subtle body energy system.

Kum Nye - Gateway to Enlightened Vision

The key to balance lies within our feelings and sensations. We can nurture and heal our bodies and minds by touching our feelings deeply and expanding their flowing rhythms that are linked to the energy of the universe itself. This energy can stimulate itself internally, recycling residues of emotional patterns and making us alive and well. Kum Nye exercises generate a relaxing process of body and mind that opens a path of spiritual development in the midst of daily life, laying a foundation for meditative practices. The physical postures and breathing exercises, combined with the inner awareness and concentration of Kum Nye, align and integrate the physical body and senses with the mind and intellect. In calm and relaxed states of well-being, there naturally arises the knowledge and strength we need.

Kum Nye Lineage

Introduced by Tarthang Tulku in the early 1970’s, Kum Nye is an ancient Tibetan Yoga practice that has existed for over a thousand years. It is a living tradition that Dharma Publishing offers in three books:
